NODUS TALKS series is organized by the NODUS Sustainable Design Research Group of Aalto University, bringing together researchers and practitioners on topics relevant to design, innovation and sustainability. Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion, both held in English.
Speaker:
Hella HERNBERG is an architect and post-doctoral researcher whose work focuses on socio-political processes around urban sustainability transformations and revitalizing existing spaces and properties. She will talk about her ongoing research that investigates ”care” and care ethics as a lens for articulating environmentally and socioculturally responsible practices that may challenge dominant paradigms in architecture. Her research is part of the Capabilities of Care research project funded by the Kone Foundation.

Aku VAINIKAINEN is an entrepreneur and an active member of Helsinki’s Lapinlahti Community. Aku is the second founder of Book Garden Oy, an audiobook production company based in Lapinlahti, Helsinki, since 2018. His talk is titled Case Lapinlahti: From Neglect to Respect – An entrepreneurial viewpoint to the rise of caring for common heritage.
